Adult Education – In Remembrance of Her: The Women Who Anoint Jesus

All four Gospels tell the story of a woman anointing Jesus. Yet, the accounts of this moment differ. One Gospel places this narrative early in Jesus’ ministry; the others situate it in the final week of Jesus’ life. In the Synoptic Gospels the woman is unnamed, even though Matthew and Mark record Jesus’ pronouncement: “What she has done will be told in remembrance of her.” John, alone, names the woman.
