Adult Education – The Gospel of Mark Series: Let’s All Become Rotarians
March 24 @ 10:10 am - 11:00 am
Sunday, March 24, 2024
10:10–11:00 a.m.
Classroom 6 and Zoom
Presented by the Rev. Bill Getman
The title of this class is drawn from a podcast conversation between Kate Bowler and Kelly Corrigan about the breakdown of community in our culture and the accompanying struggle in volunteer organizations to attract new members. The group will discuss Mark 2:1-12, the story of the four friends who lowered the paralyzed man through the roof of Jesus’ home so that he might be healed. We will reflect on the people in our lives who “carry” us and to whom we are called to support.
Rev. Getman has been retired from ministry as a PC(USA) pastor for four years. Bill, his wife, Sue, and their canine child, Chip, moved to Wilmington 10 years ago. Bill is active at Hanover Presbyterian Church, engaged in the kinds of volunteer work he anticipated in his retirement. He also coordinates the First Friday Walks for Justice and Peace, along with Sue Linderman of Westminster and Mary Lou Edgar of the Episcopal Church of Saints Andrew and Matthew.
