Peace and Justice Education Event: Cumulative Impacts Legislation – Environmental Justice in Delaware
January 25 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Thursday, January 25, 2024
7-8 p.m. on Zoom
With Willie Scott, Environmental Justice Chair, Sierra Club Delaware
President Biden’s January 2021 Executive Orders provide a framework for action to address health inequities caused by disproportionate exposures to pollution and environmental degradation that are exacerbated by racial, economic, and geographic factors. EPA Administrator Michael Regan issued an Agency-wide directive to take steps to better serve historically marginalized communities using cumulative impact assessments. The Delaware Environmental Accountability Coalition is a statewide group developing and implementing legislation to reduce the cumulative impacts of environmental permitting in Delaware. Join us as Coalition member Willie Scott defines cumulative impacts, describing how Delaware Environmental Justice Communities are affected and proposed legislation to reduce these impacts. Hosted by Westminster’s Peace & Justice Work Group.
