Peace and Justice Education Event: Crisis Intervention Teams – A Partnership with Police

June 20, 2024 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

NAMI logoThursday, June 20, 2024
7–8 p.m. on Zoom

With Wes Ingram, NAMI, and Lt. Harold Bozeman, Wilmington Police Department

Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) programs create connections between law enforcement, mental health providers, hospital emergency services, and individuals with mental illness and their families. Through intensive training, CIT improves communication, identifies mental health resources for those in crisis, and ensures officer and community safety. We will learn about these programs in Delaware, some begun more than 10 years ago. In one specific example, Wilmington Police Department recently launched a program called Partners in Care that pairs a CIT trained officer with a mental health professional to address crises and social issues for people in the City. Please join us for this important update! Hosted by Westminster’s Peace & Justice Work Group.
