Peace and Justice Education Event: Learn About Delaware’s Pivotal Role in Advancing Civil Rights in America
June 15, 2023 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Thursday, June 15, 2023
6:30 p.m. IN PERSON
Hockessin Colored School #107
4266 Millcreek Road
Hockessin, DE 19707
With David J. Wilk, Board of Directors
The Hockessin Colored School #107, built in 1920, played a monumental role in the 1954 U.S. Supreme Court ruling, Brown v. Board of Education, which desegregated schools nationwide. Newly refurbished, the building now serves as the Center for Diversity, Inclusion and Social Equity. Join us for a fascinating presentation on the history of the school and its current mission, tour the exhibits, and enjoy refreshments as together we celebrate Delaware’s place in this important milestone in our country’s history. This is the first in-person Thursday night class sponsored by Westminster’s Peace and Justice Work Group since the pandemic began – hope to see you there! Click here for more information.
