The death of young Tyre Nichols and his interactions with Memphis police were captured on video in excruciating detail. Some of us may have watched the video, others not, but the events themselves warrant thoughtful discussion of a range of issues involving America’s criminal justice systems and the treatment of African-Americans at the hands of police and other public safety personnel.
