Peace and Justice Education Event: Why We Need Access to Police Misconduct Records in Delaware

March 16, 2023 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Thursday, March 16
7 p.m. on Zoom

With Misty Seemans, Assistant Public Defender

Delaware’s Law Enforcement Officers’ Bill of Rights (LEOBOR) enshrines law-enforcement officers’ due process rights when they are subject to a complaint – “All records compiled as a result of any investigation subject to the provisions of this chapter and/or a contractual disciplinary grievance procedure shall be and remain confidential and shall not be released to the public.” Why would we want to keep police misconduct secret? What does this lack of transparency mean for Delawareans and the relationship between police and the community? What action is needed to address this issue? Join us to learn more! Hosted by Westminster’s Peace & Justice Work Group.
