Peace and Justice Education Event: Redefining Public Safety – Interrupting Violence in Our City
May 4, 2023 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Thursday, May 4
7 p.m. on Zoom
With Dr. Debra Mason, Wilmington Community Public Safety Initiative Coordinator
Community Violence Intervention is an evidence-informed strategy to disrupt cycles of violence, retaliation, and establish relationships within the community. As a result of an assessment recently conducted by the Community Based Public Safety Collective, Wilmington created a community collaboration that includes Network Connect, Center for Structural Equity, and Youth Advocacy Programs. Community interventionists will be trained to act as public safety professionals and play a critical role in the interruption of violence within the City of Wilmington. Join us as Dr. Mason describes these promising initiatives as we work toward a safer, more peaceful community. Hosted by Westminster’s Peace & Justice Work Group.
