Reading, Praying, and Singing the Psalms:
Thinking About the Psalms, Jesus, and the Christian Church
Used frequently in worship, in our devotional life, and often read at memorial services and in times of crises, the Book of Psalms is unique among the rest of the books of the Bible. This class is designed to provide some background into the structure, interpretation, and theology found in the psalms so that we are better able to sing the psalms, pray the psalms, and live as they invite us to live.
The Rev. Dr. Randall “Randy” Clayton is a recently retired PC(USA) Minster of Word and Sacrament currently serving as Westminster’s Bridge Associate Pastor. He holds degrees from the University of Georgia (AB, History), Columbia Theological Seminary (D.Min.) and Fordham University (MSW). During his career, he served in a variety of interim and settled pastoral positions in small, medium, and large churches. Randy has also served as a social worker and executive director in the not-for-profit sector. In recent years he has developed an interest in the Book of Psalms and how the Psalms might be used more effectively in worship and our individual spiritual development.
