Helping Out at Sojourners’ Place

Since 1991, Sojourners’ Place has provided a home for homeless men and women, helping them on their journey to self-sufficiency through a case managed residential program. Fifty residents are provided with assistance, including drug/alcohol counseling, mental health therapy, educational training, and access to job training. The residents leave with a job, a savings account, and a place to live.

At Westminster, the Koinonia Circle has adopted Sojourners’ Place as their service project. Every month, two women provide a large birthday cake and ice cream for the 50 residents. In December, the women buy gift cards, bake cookies, and provide extra goodies for a happy Christmas celebration with games and music. Mary Field knits scarves all through the year so each resident has a warm scarf for the winter.

The members of Koinonia Circle thank Westminster for including Sojourners’ Place in the Christmas Eve mission collection.
