Audio Video Team

Ambassadors

Ambassadors welcome new visitors each Sunday with a smile, a coffee mug, and a tour of the church grounds if desired.

Audio/Video

The audio/video team records, edits, and produces livestreamed worship services each Sunday and for other special events.

Children’s Programs

There is so much joy watching children grow in their faith and being a part of their spiritual development. See Children + Youth for current programs. A background check is required for any volunteers age 18 and over working with children.

Church Officer (Elder, Deacon, Trustee)

Whether your skills are in finance, leadership, or hospitality (to name a few), they can be used to advance our congregation’s work and witness, both within and beyond our walls. Church officers are elected by the congregation and serve for three-year terms. If you are an active member of Westminster and feel your gifts are well-suited to the role of Elder, Deacon, or Trustee, we invite you to submit your name when the Nominating Committee calls for nominations each fall. Serving as a church officer is both a challenging and a rewarding experience.

Communion Preparation

On the first Sunday of every month (and during occasional special services), our congregation celebrates communion during worship. The Preparation Team sets up linens and prepares the communion elements (bread and juice) prior to each service and cleans up after each service.

Flowers

The people of Westminster have the opportunity to donate the funds to purchase the flowers in the sanctuary on Sunday. A group of volunteers break up the flowers into smaller bouquets and take them to members of our congregation who cannot join us for in-person worship.

Greeters

Greeters are the first friendly and welcoming faces members and visitors meet at the entrances of Westminster when arriving for worship or special events.

Meal Trains

In moments of crisis or transition, planning and preparing meals can become a burdensome task. The church can help take this off your plate. Upon request, Westminster provides meal trains for individuals or families who are experiencing illness, adjusting to life with a new child, or navigating other challenges. A meal train typically provides two to three meals per week for a set time frame, which can range from a couple of weeks to a couple of months.

Memorial Garden

Westminster’s Memorial Garden is the final resting place of many members’ ash remains. Gardeners are needed to prune and weed this sacred space a couple of times a year to ensure that it remains a place of beauty and remembrance.

Phix-It Handymen

Pew Pockets

Our sanctuary pews (the word used for benches in a church) have small pockets on the back containing information about the church. There is a dedicated group of people in this behind-the-scenes ministry who keep the pew pockets filled, organized, and up-to-date.

Phix-It Corps

Phix-It Corps is an enthusiastic group of volunteer “handymen” who make various repairs throughout the church under the direction of Westminster’s Director of Facilities and Security.

Prayer Shawls

“Close Knit,” Westminster’s Prayer Shawl group, creates beautiful, hand-made shawls to give to people in need of care. The shawls are physical reminders of the prayers and love from our community of faith.

Stephen Ministry

Stephen Ministers are trained church members who provide confidential, non-judgmental, one‐on‐one Christian care to those in our community who are experiencing difficulties. See Care + Support for more information.

Ushers

Our team of ushers serves our members and guests by providing guidance and security during our services and public events. Ushers help acquaint people with the sanctuary, hand out worship bulletins, and guide people to their seats.

Vacation Bible School (VBS)

Vacation Bible School is a one-week “camp” for children (preschool to rising 6th grade) that Westminster offers every summer. Adult teachers and youth helpers are needed to help make VBS a lasting memory of fun-filled learning for children. A background check is required for any volunteers age 18 and over working with children.

Wedding Assistants

Wedding assistants provide hospitality to wedding parties using Westminster’s facilities and help ensure wedding rehearsals and ceremonies run smoothly.

Westminster-by-Heart Storytellers

Embrace the discipline and spiritual commitment of learning the stories of Scripture by heart. Offered throughout the year with expanded opportunities for participation at Christmas and during Holy Week, Westminster-by-Heart is open to any and all who share a passion for the story.

The Westminster Choir

The Westminster Choir is open to all adults. The group rehearses on Wednesday evenings and sings during our Sunday morning sanctuary service throughout most of the year. The choir also offers special concerts a few times a year. The ability to read music is helpful, and the talent to sing in tune and in time is appreciated.
