Music Ministry
Our congregation is blessed with an outstanding music ministry which inspires us in worship and provides opportunities for participation by persons of all ages.
The Westminster Choir: Adults
Rehearsals:
September – May:
Wednesdays at 7:30 – 9:30 p.m.
Sundays at 8:15 a.m., prior to 9:00 a.m. worship
June:
Sundays at 9:00 a.m., prior to 10:00 a.m. worship
Place: Adult Music Room
Director of Music: Dr. F. Anthony Thurman
Comprised of 50-plus singers, including a quartet of professional soloists, the Westminster Choir provides musical leadership and choral offerings for the 9:00 a.m. (more "traditional") service on Sundays from September through May, and for the 10:00 a.m. service during June, as well as occasional special services and concerts. In addition to weekly anthems covering a broad range of musical expression, major works presented in recent years have included complete Mass settings of Haydn, Mozart, and Schubert; Requiem settings of Fauré, Brahms, and Rutter; and works of contemporary American composers such as Daniel Pinkham, John Leavitt, K. Lee Scott, Leonard Bernstein, Randol Bass, Mack Wilberg, and Arnold Freed.
The choir has undertaken five European tours: Austria (2000), Italy (2004), France (2007), Germany (2010), and the Czech Republic (2013). Two CD recordings have been made featuring the Westminster Choir: All Hail the Power, featuring favorite anthems and hymns; and Joy to the World, featuring carols and anthems for the Christmas season. Both are available at the church office or through the choir director.

Sing-to-Praise Choir: Grades 3 – 6
Rehearsals: Sundays, 9:00 – 10:00 a.m., September – May
Place: Youth Music Room
Director of Music for Children and Youth: Alexis Droke
A parent or responsible adult will escort their child to the Youth Music Room at 8:55 a.m. for sign-in, just prior to the start of worship. Parents pick up their child immediately following the 9:00 worship service. This older elementary choir program encourages faith formation through singing, scripture, creative expression and fellowship. Singing and musical development with instruction in note-reading will be emphasized, and the children's choir will sing in worship a minimum of six times in addition to performing in a spring musical. To register, please contact Director of Music for Children and Youth Alexis Droke.

Joyful Noise Choir: Kindergarten – Grade 2
Rehearsals: Sundays, 10:10 – 11:00 a.m., September – May
Place: Youth Music Room
Director of Music for Children and Youth: Alexis Droke
This younger elementary choir program is an excellent opportunity for children to sing, play, make friends and practice communal worship. The Joyful Noise choir includes occasional Sunday worship participation, Christmas Eve worship and a spring musical performed with the Sing-to-Praise choir. To register, please contact Director of Music for Children and Youth Alexis Droke.
